We are delighted to share the success of this year’s International Women's Month celebration, held on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024, at the All Nation Community Centre. This milestone event, marking the 5th anniversary of Gloucestershire International Women's Month, was a joyous and inspiring occasion that exceeded all our expectations.

The theme for this year, "Take a Seat Around the Table: Celebrating Women Empowerment," truly came to life through the remarkable contributions of our distinguished guests. We were honored to have:

         Karen Roswell
         Verona Vidal
         Angela Pittas
        Mrs. Carol Francis JP
        Elayne Gardner
        Suzanne Baker, Detective Chief Superintendent
        Valerie Simms from Arts Diverse-City
        Selina Thomas
Each of these extraordinary women shared their personal and professional journeys, offering invaluable insights and inspiring stories that resonated deeply with everyone in attendance. The discussions fostered a profound sense of inclusion and belonging, aligning perfectly with our mission to empower women and celebrate diversity.

The evening was filled with engaging panel discussions, interactive networking sessions, and heartfelt moments of connection. Our attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to inspiring inclusion within their own communities. The culinary delights, accommodating various dietary preferences, were a delightful complement to the enriching conversations and experiences shared throughout the event.

As we reflect on the success of this year's event, we are already looking forward to next year, March 2025, when we will gather once again to celebrate International Women's Month. We are excited to continue building on the momentum we’ve created and to explore new ways to inspire, empower, and connect women in our community.

We hope you will join us next year as we strive to make each event more impactful and memorable than the last. Thank you for your continued support and participation in making Gloucestershire International Women's Month a resounding success.

Warm regards,

Valerie Simms

Roots of Strength: Celebrating Women’s

Resilience, Unity & Journey

In celebration of International Women’s Day, we invite you to experience "Roots of Strength", an exhibition that honours the resilience, unity, and journey of women through the powerful symbol of hair.

Hair is more than just strands—it is a root of identity, a marker of strength, and a bond that connects generations. It carries our histories, our cultures, and our stories of survival, self-expression, and belonging. Through art, photography, storytelling, and interactive installations, this exhibition creates a space for sisters to unite, honour their journeys, and embrace the beauty of finding home—within themselves and in each other.

Join us as we celebrate the diverse narratives of women from around the world, where each root tells a story of resistance, empowerment, and unity. Let us stand together, recognising that our strength lies not only in our individuality but in the deep connections that ground us.

Come, witness, and be part of the story.
